Your “I AM” Humanities/ Passion Role
Passion is in all great searches and is necessary to all creative endeavors.
—Eugene W. Smith
hu·man·i·ties (n. pl.)
1. The qualities of being humane; benevolent
2. Humane characteristics, attributes, or acts.
pas·sion (n.)
1. Boundless enthusiasm.
Desire is prompted by feelings, emotions and beliefs. We respond faster when we feel passionate about something. It’s the blood that runs through your veins. Your imagination starts and drives all of life’s outcomes. Religion, education, art and scientific discovery, sports and business are expressed through some force of emotional action or behavior. This is your Humanities/ Passion role.
The first enlightened "I AM" personality, Humanities/ Passion, is the most powerful because it reveals your passion and commitment. This role shows the power behind your belief system. It’s the core of what you stand for and the strength behind your values.
When you show your Humanities/ Passion personality, your psychological gestures are straight and forward. Your posture is erect, square and tall. You face forward. You’re direct and passionate. Your Humanities/ Passion role is expressed by hands-held-up gestures. Observe others around you in this role and notice their gestures. When you understand the physical signs of this emotion, you are able to model them in your own body language.
Psychological gestures are powerful. The terrorist actions of September 11th were a major shift in the American emotional paradigm. People contributed financial aid, emotional support and loving, altruistic thoughts to the victims and their families. These are perfect examples of humanities on a massive scale.
Professional service providers—doctors, lawyers, teachers, police officers, politicians, religious leaders, firefighters and others—are humanitarian at heart. They reveal humanities in some way or another. They follow a core belief system and their actions resonate this passion. The Humanities/ Passion role is the foundation of their belief system and personality.
Which core beliefs are you passionate about? Your Humanities/ Passion personality is motivated to help mankind. Your Humanities/ Passion leads and participates in political campaigns, charitable organizations, benefit services and similar activities. Do you volunteer at a rape crisis center, build homes for Habitat for Humanity or feed the homeless on holidays? This is the first part of your Creative Triangle.
Identifying and Revealing the "I AM" Humanities/Passion Role
“We must act out passion before we can feel it.”
—Jean-Paul Sartre
Do you see yourself as dominantly humanitarian? If so, how does it manifest itself in your outward behavior? Do you get excited about your political convictions and passionately jump onto your soapbox on Election Day? How far do you exert your emotions and energy to prove your point? Revealing any of these qualities at some time or another expresses your "I AM" Humanities/ Passion.
In your journal, make a list of the causes and issues you support. What are you willing to debate or argue about? What’s important to you? What do you stand for? What are you passionate about? For example, how do you feel about education, the environment, arts and humanities, religion, abortion, fiscal policy, human rights, exercise and health?
After you make your list, stand up to read it aloud. Observe your behavior. Notice your voice as your passion level fluctuates. The way you express this passion through behavior defines your Humanities/ Passion psychological gestures. You can model these gestures at any time without having the same feelings. You simply repeat the physical actions to act the part.
Take voice lessons to control the delivery of your enlightened characters. Voice lessons are extremely therapeutic and build self-confidence. If you have financial constraints or hesitate showing your voice, join the church choir and ask the choir leader to give you voice lessons. The choir leader is a humanitarian and will jump at the opportunity to help. Remember excuses are for the victim character. Overpower this role and replace it with humanity and passion. Strengthen your Enlightened triangle.
The only way to reveal your Humanities/ Passion personality is through involvement in life. Become a volunteer and give back to society. Learn what organizations you can volunteer at on a local or national level. When you strengthen the humanitarian within, you develop a peaceful balance.
Volunteer organizations are outstanding opportunities to meet people that share your values and beliefs. They also offer comfortable, stress-free environments to spark a conversation. In your serious commitment to improving your dating experience, include volunteer activities in your social life. Sharing and caring emotions drive you to success.
Go back to your "soapbox list" again. Get up on a chair or the couch. Stand tall. Get the feeling you’re above everyone and everything. Use the Humanities/ Passion psychological gesture that you learned (palms out, arms outstretched overhead). Now you’re ready to do some preaching about your causes.
The psychological gestures can bring these emotions back. Let this passion wash over you. Don’t censor yourself. Have fun. You’re connecting with your Humanities/ Passion role while conveying your cause to others.
Practice these exercises every day for a few minutes using each of your causes. Try the techniques with different movements and positions—standing, sitting, walking and moving. Keep your psychological gestures above your heart at all times. You can’t get excited about anything with your arms hanging lifelessly at your sides, just as you can’t be depressed about anything with your hands up over your head. Keep your dukes up. Control your outcome.
After practicing alone, try the techniques in front of others. Observe yourself—your body and voice—when you’re talking to someone about your cause. Note the psychological gestures that excite them, and remember to repeat or reveal those gestures next time. These qualities will attract a higher quality of individual.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully revealed and taken ownership of your "I AM" Humanities
